We are thinking of moving from San Diego County to Irvine. We have a lot of equity in the home we own now, but have noticed the prices dropping in our neighborhood by about $50,000 in recent months. We have never been in this type of market before and are unsure of what to do. We want to get more house for our money, however, but the housing prices in Irvine seem very competitive. Any advice?

My husband and I are currently renting in Mission Viejo. Any recommendation about the best time to buy? Our lease ends in July.

How is the real estate market for Woodbury? What is the estimated price for a condo that has a downstairs unit that is not connected to an upstairs loft, but has 1.5 bathrooms? Is it worth it to purchase the property for a cheaper price and then add a staircase to the upper loft? Thank you!

I've heard that for the cities surrounding the Costa Mesa area, Irvine and Newport have somewhat maintained their market value in comparison to other cities in Orange County. Is this true? Do you think it is worth it to buy an older property (i.e., built in 1977 or earlier)? It seems like there are a lot of older properties on the market. However, I'm a little hesitant to purchase one because it will probably require a lot of upgrades. Am I approaching this in the wrong way?
